My name is Jenn. I am a proud pinay who has a passion for food, health, culture, design. Recently became a new mommy!
As I get older, I’ve come to realize that food heals my soul. I love food and I come from a traditional Filipino household and have parents who cooks and not just for my family but for everyone around them. As I reflect back, it hit me that I’m turning into my parents, which I’m grateful for. Not only do I love to cook, I love to explore new restaurants and taste the next new food trend.
I’ve been very mindful of my health. Don’t get me wrong, I will splurge on my food intake, but for the most part I have a healthy lifestyle (5 days out of the week). I’m slowly getting into olympic lifting and have been taking classes called Daily Ultimate Training (DUT) at the UFC Gym.
I’ve always had the passion to learn more about my FilAm community, especially in Los Angeles. I’ve continued to stay involved even after college and wanting to help my community; especially through the arts. I feel that through the arts, people have a better understanding of my culture and it’s so diverse!
Food, Health and Culture all relate to each other, which is where I got the name A Bite of Soul. You will get a glimpse of my life through my passion points of food, health and culture. Hopefully one day you get to take a bite of it!
** Side note, I will probably refer to my husband a lot, so don’t mind the Lloyd reference. He will cook with me from time to time and of course enjoy my adventures with me too! #joydcancook
Becoming a homeowner, Pinterest has brought so much inspiration. I love looking at different pins and have my husband figure out how to build it. I most definitely don’t have a background on design, but I like to think I have an eye for it. I would say my style is very eclectic and love the mix of the rustic/farmhouse look with a mid-century modern twist.
I recently gave birth to our first child! And will be sharing some fun things that I’ve/will be learning along this mom life journey.
